Korean prosecutors are investigating the role of Samsung’s executives in covering up the $3.9 billion accounting fraud and the illegal activities within the group to strengthen Samsung’s heir, Lee Jae-yong, control over Samsung Electronics. Executives from Samsung Electronics admitted having ordered staff to destroy evidence related to the accounting fraud. Five executives from companies within the group have been arrested in the last month, evidence that despite pledges of improved corporate governance, the group has not changed.
