ING to pioneer sustainability improvement derivatives

Posted by Aktis Team on 13 August 2019

ING has developed the world’s first sustainability improvement derivative (SID) for SBM Offshore, a company that provides floating production solutions for the offshore energy industry. The price of the SID is linked to the company’s sustainability performance, among other metrics. ING states that SIDs were introduced with the purpose of supporting clients to achieving sustainability goals. The bank was also the first one to develop a sustainability improvement loan in 2017 and recently announced that it acts as a "green adviser" to Porsche.
