Following the ousting of Carlos Ghosn from Nissan, the company went through an overhaul of its board. Nissan’s new board will comprise of 11 directors, with a majority of external directors. However, there are still concerns about the new board’s independence and diversity. There are only two female directors and five non-Japanese directors. Moreover, amongst the board members are Renault’s chief executive Thierry Bolloré and its Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard, thus raising concerns of non independence.
