Rethinking the purpose of businesses

The Business Roundtable, a US non-profit association made up of CEOs of big businesses, pledged to focus on the interests of wider stakeholders when making corporate decisions, taking a step back from making the interests of stockholders the only priority. As social inequality is high and climate change becomes more pressing, fingers are pointed at big corporations. The decision made by the 180 CEOs can be motivated by attacks from the left of the Democratic party, but also as a response to a shift in attitudes towards businesses.
